On Friday, grade 4-6 Westpark students had the privilege of learning about Black History with DJ Malik of the Youth Stars Foundation. Thank you for sharing this important message with us. Thanks, also, to Mrs. Jennifer Borenstein for organizing!
Grade 6 students have been hard at work applying the 6 C competencies of Collaboration, Character, Creativity and Citizenship to make Valentine’s Day cards that will be delivered this afternoon to Résidence Chateau Pierrefonds to the elderly community in the West Island. Community engagement is very important here at Westpark. We are very proud of our students!
How appropriate that on this day of love we donated 1418 pairs of socks to https://www.helpfeedthehomeless.org. Thank you to everyone in the upper grades who contributed to this great initiative!
Kindergarten collected donations for the West Island Women’s Shelter and helped load up all the goods for delivery! Thank you to all the wonderful Westpark families for your generosity!
Over 70 students and 10 staff members from Hebrew P.E.L.O. Plus contributed to the assembly of this mega Chanukkiah, which is on display outside the main office.
Westpark is having their annual Craft and Bake Sale & Raffle from Monday, December 9th to Friday, December 13th. All proceeds are going to the West Island Women’s Shelter and Montreal Children’s Hospital.
Westpark welcomed Dare to Care for grades 5-6 this week to talk about bullying. Students came away with great insights and reflection:
“No one’s life is perfect. We should give the gift of listening whether we think a problem seems major or minor”
“Everybody has feelings – just because someone doesn’t look hurt, doesn’t mean you didn’t hurt them.”
“We all have a part in this story called life and a part to play. Some people aren’t playing their part and are breaking their story”
“You might never know what someone else is thinking or feeling, so try to put yourself in their shoes before you speak”.
Thank you for all your openness, honesty and hard work, students!
We enjoyed hearing astronaut Brian Eweson talk all about Earth observation this week! Thank you to Mme Pallotta and Mme Yolanda for organizing!
Westpark was well represented at the entrepreneurial gala. Way to go!
